Why Seastone for fencing

Posts properly set, panels properly secured.

Most fences fail at the post. We concrete-set every post in a 600mm Postcrete footing, use H4-rated pressure-treated timber, and finish with stainless or galvanised fixings. The result lasts 15+ years instead of 5.

Wooden panels, composite, metal railings, picket and full automatic gate systems — all installed by our own team with a 5-year written guarantee.

FAQ

Fencing questions we hear most often.

How much does garden fencing cost in Worcestershire?

Closeboard fencing is typically £45–£60/linear metre installed, composite £85–£110/m, metal railings £120–£180/m. A 20m garden boundary in closeboard is around £1,000–£1,300. Driveway gates from £450 (single) or £950 (double) plus motors if automated.

Do I need planning permission for garden fencing?

Front-boundary fencing over 1m next to a road needs planning permission. Side and rear boundaries can go up to 2m without permission. Listed buildings and conservation areas have stricter rules — we check before quoting.

How long do wooden fences last?

Properly installed fences with concrete-set posts and tannelised timber typically last 15–20 years, often longer. Cowboy installs with thrown-in posts fail in 5–7 years. The post and footing are everything — the panels are easy to replace.

Can you install automatic driveway gates?

Yes — we install electric sliding and swing gates with mains-powered or solar motors. Typical install is £2,500–£4,500 for a single-panel automatic gate, £4,000–£6,500 for a full pair. Includes safety photocells and auto-close.

Do you remove old fencing?

Yes — we include removal and disposal in every quote. Old timber goes to a licensed waste site; metal and concrete are recycled. The site is left clean and ready for the new install.
