Mercia Mudstone & sub-base engineering
Redditch ground conditions across B97 and B98 postcodes are dominated by the Mercia Mudstone Group, producing heavy reddish clay and siltstone sub-soils. Clay retention traps water near the surface during winter months, increasing risk of frost heave.
We overcome this by excavating minimum 200mm sub-bases, applying geotextile stabilization layers, and utilizing open-graded MOT Type 3 aggregate when laying permeable resin bound or porous block paving layouts.
